By creating a Blue Sail account you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Cancellation and refund policy. If you don't agree, please don't create an account or buy a membership.
1. Who we are
Blue Sail Technologies ("Blue Sail", "we", "us") is based in New York. We run this website and its membership. To reach us, use our contact page: we don't publish an email address, and a person reads every message.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be 18 or older to create an account or buy a membership.
- An account is for one person. Keep your password secret and don't let anyone else use your account.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has used it, reset your password and tell us through the contact page.
- Keep your email address current: we send sign-in, membership and billing notices there.
- We may suspend or close an account that is used in breach of these terms.
3. Membership
- While your membership is active, you can read the members-only part of this website: members-only articles and architecture deep dives, the guided tour of the platform behind our products, and regular briefings on AI trends.
- We add, update and sometimes remove member content. A membership gives access to the member area as it is at the time, not to any particular article.
- Member content is for information only. It is not professional, legal, financial or security advice for your situation, so use your own judgment before you act on it.
4. Price, billing and automatic renewal
There are two plans, both billed in US dollars. They differ only in how often you pay:
- Monthly plan: $5.00 every month.
- Yearly plan: $50.00 every year (about $4.17 a month).
Before you pay, we show you the automatic renewal terms for the plan you chose and ask you to agree to them. They are part of these terms:
Monthly plan
Your membership costs $5.00 (US dollars) for the first month and then renews automatically every month at $5.00, charged to the payment method you use at checkout, until you cancel. There is no minimum term. To stop the next charge, cancel before your renewal date, which your Account page shows. The price may change: if it does, we email you before the new price applies, and you can cancel first. You can cancel at any time online: sign in, open Account and choose Cancel membership. If you cancel, your membership stays active until the end of the month you have already paid for, and then it ends. We do not give partial or prorated refunds, except where our Terms or the law require one.
Yearly plan
Your membership costs $50.00 (US dollars) for the first year and then renews automatically every year at $50.00, charged to the payment method you use at checkout, until you cancel. There is no minimum term. To stop the next charge, cancel before your renewal date, which your Account page shows. The price may change: if it does, we email you before the new price applies, and you can cancel first. You can cancel at any time online: sign in, open Account and choose Cancel membership. If you cancel, your membership stays active until the end of the year you have already paid for, and then it ends. We do not give partial or prorated refunds, except where our Terms or the law require one. We email you a reminder at least 15 days before each renewal, with the amount and how to cancel.
- Prices are in US dollars. Any tax that applies is shown at checkout before you pay.
- Payments are processed by Stripe on its secure checkout page. We never see or store your full card number. Your membership starts when your first payment succeeds.
- We charge the plan price on each renewal date to the payment method on file, until you cancel. Stripe emails you a receipt for every payment.
- If your membership is set to renew for a year, we email you a reminder about 30 days before each renewal, and never less than 15 days before it, with the renewal date, the price and how to cancel.
- If a renewal payment fails, it is retried automatically for up to one week and your access continues meanwhile. You can update your payment method or cancel in Account. If the payment can't be collected, your membership ends.
- We may change the price of a plan. If we do, we will email you no more than 30 days and at least 5 business days before the renewal that the change affects, with the new price and how to cancel. If you don't want the new price, cancel before that renewal. If you are charged the new price, you can still cancel within 14 days after that charge, and we will refund the unused part of the period it paid for, prorated.
5. Cancellation and refunds
- You can cancel online at any time: sign in, open Account and choose Cancel membership. You can also ask us through the contact page, and we will cancel for you within one business day.
- When you cancel, you won't be charged again, and your membership stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. You can resume it from Account before then.
- If you cancel while a renewal payment is overdue, your membership won't renew again, but that overdue payment is still retried for up to one week. If it goes through, it pays for the period that has already started and you keep access until that period ends. If it doesn't, your membership ends when the retries stop.
- We don't give partial or prorated refunds for unused time. The exceptions: we refund charges made by mistake and duplicate charges, we give a prorated refund when we end your membership without cause (section 9) or when you cancel within 14 days after being charged a new price (section 4), and we give any refund the law requires.
The details are in our Cancellation and refund policy.
6. Plan changes
- You can switch between the monthly and yearly plans from Account.
- Moving to a longer plan takes effect right away: a new billing period starts that day, and you are charged the new plan's price less a credit for the unused part of your current period. The credit reduces that charge; it is not a refund. If that charge doesn't go through, your plan doesn't change.
- Moving to a shorter plan takes effect at your next renewal. Until then you keep your current plan, and you can undo the switch in Account.
- If you cancel while a switch to a shorter plan is waiting for your renewal, the switch is dropped too, and your membership ends at the end of the period you've paid for.
In detail:
- From the monthly plan: a switch to the yearly plan takes effect right away.
- From the yearly plan: a switch to the monthly plan takes effect at your next renewal.
7. License to member content
- Member content belongs to Blue Sail Technologies or the people we license it from. While your membership is active, we give you a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable license to read it on this website. The license ends when your membership ends.
- You may not copy, republish, sell or otherwise redistribute member content, share your sign-in, or give anyone else access to member pages.
- You may not scrape or crawl member pages or access them with automated tools or agents, including AI assistants or browsing agents acting for you.
- You may not use member content to train, fine-tune, evaluate or ground AI models, or feed it to AI crawlers or to AI search or answer services, whether directly or through a tool.
8. Acceptable use
- Don't break or try to get around the website's security, sign-in or usage limits, or access accounts or content that aren't yours.
- Don't disrupt or overload the service, or test it for weaknesses without our written permission.
- Don't use the service for anything unlawful, or to send spam through our forms.
- Don't impersonate anyone or give false information when you create an account.
9. Termination
- You can end your membership at any time by cancelling it (section 5).
- We may suspend or end your account straight away if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, for example by sharing your account or copying member content. No refund is due in that case, except where the law requires one.
- We may also end a membership, or the membership service as a whole, for any other reason by telling you by email. If we do, we refund the unused part of the period you have paid for, prorated.
- The parts of these terms that by their nature should last beyond your membership (the limits on member content, the disclaimers, the limitation of liability and the governing law) continue after it ends.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
- The website and member content are provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep them accurate and running, but we don't promise that they will be error-free, complete, current or always available.
- To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, arising from your use of the website or member content.
- To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim about your membership is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim.
- Nothing in these terms limits any liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or takes away consumer rights that the law does not allow to be waived.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. The state and federal courts located in New York County, New York, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them or your membership, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. This does not take away any protection that the consumer laws of the place where you live give you.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will email members about material changes no more than 30 days and at least 5 business days before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page always shows the current version. If you keep your membership after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply to you. If you don't agree with a change, you can cancel before it takes effect.
13. Contact and version
Questions about these terms: please use our contact page. This is version 2026-09-29 of the Terms of Service.
