Automatic renewal

Memberships renew automatically until you cancel, for the same period each time: every month or every year, depending on your plan. These are the renewal terms you agree to before you pay:

Monthly plan

Your membership costs $5.00 (US dollars) for the first month and then renews automatically every month at $5.00, charged to the payment method you use at checkout, until you cancel. There is no minimum term. To stop the next charge, cancel before your renewal date, which your Account page shows. The price may change: if it does, we email you before the new price applies, and you can cancel first. You can cancel at any time online: sign in, open Account and choose Cancel membership. If you cancel, your membership stays active until the end of the month you have already paid for, and then it ends. We do not give partial or prorated refunds, except where our Terms or the law require one.

Yearly plan

Your membership costs $50.00 (US dollars) for the first year and then renews automatically every year at $50.00, charged to the payment method you use at checkout, until you cancel. There is no minimum term. To stop the next charge, cancel before your renewal date, which your Account page shows. The price may change: if it does, we email you before the new price applies, and you can cancel first. You can cancel at any time online: sign in, open Account and choose Cancel membership. If you cancel, your membership stays active until the end of the year you have already paid for, and then it ends. We do not give partial or prorated refunds, except where our Terms or the law require one. We email you a reminder at least 15 days before each renewal, with the amount and how to cancel.

How to cancel

  1. Sign in and open Account.
  2. Choose Cancel membership, then confirm.

That's all: it works online, at any time, and you don't need to contact us. If you prefer, you can ask us through our contact page, and we will cancel for you within one business day.

After you cancel

  • You won't be charged again. The one exception is a renewal payment that was already overdue when you cancelled (see Failed payments).
  • You keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Then your membership ends.
  • We email you a confirmation with the date your access ends.

Changing your mind

Until your paid period ends, you can resume your membership from Account, and it renews as before. After it has ended, you can join again at any time from the membership page.

Refunds

  • We don't give partial or prorated refunds for unused time, except in the cases below.
  • If you were charged by mistake, or charged twice for the same period, we refund that charge in full. Tell us through our contact page.
  • If we end the membership service, or end your membership without cause, we refund the unused part of the period you have paid for, prorated.
  • If you cancel within 14 days after being charged a new price for your plan, we refund the unused part of the period that charge paid for, prorated (see Price changes).
  • Where the law gives you a right to a refund, we honor it.

Switching plans

  • Moving to a longer plan takes effect right away: a new billing period starts that day, and you are charged the new plan's price less a credit for the unused part of your current period. The credit reduces that charge; it is not a refund. If that charge doesn't go through, your plan doesn't change.
  • Moving to a shorter plan takes effect at your next renewal. Until then you keep your current plan, and you can undo the switch in Account.
  • If you cancel while a switch to a shorter plan is waiting for your renewal, the switch is dropped too, and your membership ends at the end of the period you've paid for.
  • From the monthly plan: a switch to the yearly plan takes effect right away.
  • From the yearly plan: a switch to the monthly plan takes effect at your next renewal.

You switch in Account, and our Terms of Service have the details.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, it is retried automatically for up to one week, and your access continues meanwhile. You can update your payment method in Account. If the payment can't be collected, your membership ends.

You can also cancel in Account while the payment is overdue. Your membership then won't renew again, but the overdue payment is still retried for up to one week. If it goes through, it pays for the period that has already started and you keep access until that period ends. If it doesn't, your membership ends when the retries stop.

Renewal reminders

If your membership is set to renew for a year (the yearly plan), we email you a reminder about 30 days before each renewal, and never less than 15 days before it. It gives the renewal date, the price and how to cancel. Cancel before the renewal date and you won't be charged again.

We don't send a separate reminder before monthly renewals. Your renewal date and price are always shown in Account, and Stripe emails you a receipt for every payment.

Price changes

If we change the price of your plan, we email you no more than 30 days and at least 5 business days before the renewal that the change affects, with the new price and how to cancel. If you don't want the new price, cancel before that renewal. If you are charged the new price, you can still cancel within 14 days after that charge, and we refund the unused part of the period it paid for, prorated.
